Biography of Elise Testone
Elise Testone is an American Singer and contestant on Season 11 of American Idol. Elise was born in Kinnelon, New Jersey on July 29th of 1983 to LuAnne and Victor Testone. She grew up in New Jersey where she graduated from Kinnelon High School before moving to Conway, South Carolina to attend the Coastal Carolina University. At the time of audition, Elise Testone resided in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
Elise is a singer of blues, soul and rock music and can play the guitar, piano as well as the drums. She received her bachelor’s degree in music while attending Coastal Carolina University. Up until the audition for American Idol Season 11, Elise Testone worked as a vocal coach and regularly performed both solo as well as in bands throughout the Charleston area.
Elise Testone’s band is known as the Freeloaders and in 2011 they won the Funk, Soul and R&B Artist of the Year Award given out by the local Charleston newspaper. Her band also won the staff pick for Best Tribute Band after Elise and her band put on a James Brown Dance Party that same year.
To date, Elise Testone has opened for a number of big name artists who performed in the Charleston area including Nappy Roots, Snoop Dogg, Modern West as well as Seven Mary Three. While all of this experience did make her well known in her area, it would not be until July 22 of 2011 that she would become known to the world after auditioning for the 11th season of American Idol.
One interesting thing to note was that during the semi-finals, Elise Testone performed “One and Only” by Adele and advanced based solely on viewer votes. She was one of five female contestants that advanced in this manner.
By the finals, Elise had a lucky break after performing “I’m Your Baby Tonight” by Whitney Huston, when she received the lowest number of votes. The decision for elimination came down to Elise and Jeremy Rosado, for which Jeremy was selected to go home. Furthermore, Elise also received an endorsement from X Factor finalist Chris Rene for her performance in this round.
The following round, Elise Testone worked even harder to make her comeback when she performed “Let’s Stay Together” by Al Green and received a standing ovation from the judges. Randy Jackson even stood up and praised Elise stating, “America, Elise is back!”
She would spend the next two rounds in the bottom three before finally performing “Vienna” by Billy Joel where she received yet another standing ovation from the judges. She would go on to receive one more standing ovation during her performance of “Whole Lotta Love” by Led Zeppelin.
Elise Testone is simply an amazing artist with a long hopeful career ahead of her if she continues to work hard. She has great potential and her flair for keeping the audience entertained is one of her strongest suits.
There is just so much great that can be said regarding Elise Testone and the other top finalists for American Idol Season 11. Of course everyone will have their opportunity to see Elise live and in person as she has already secured her slot to tour during this season’s summer finalist tour.
With such a long history of performing in front of loud and lively crowds, it’s no wonder that Elise Testone continues to shine on the American Idol stage. While she has glided through most of the competition thus far, it is after all, it is the finals that truly brings out the performer in each and every single contestant.
Does Elise have what it takes to become the next big name in the recording industry? Can we expect to see her name in light, or hear of her receive one great music reward after another? Only time will tell, but so far, Elise Testone has shone and continues to show to the world that she definitely has what it takes to be a true American Idol.
She is destined for great things in life and is definitely already an idol to so many out there.
