Originally, Hollie Cavanagh auditioned for Season 10 of American Idol, but unfortunately she was eliminated during the Green Mile Round. It was then that Jennifer Lopez inspired Hollie to audition again in season 11 after gaining some more experience and practicing a lot.
In Houston Texas, Hollie Cavanagh would once again audition for American Idol and get her golden ticket for the second time. Unlike her first attempt, she was not given as much air time. However, as time went on, it was evident that she had taken Jennifer Lopez’s advice and came back ready to win the American Idol contest.
By the time that the semi-finals rolled around, Hollie Cavanagh was really starting to shine. Her performance of Christina Aguilera’s “Reflection” drew much applause and praise from both the show’s fans as well as from the panel of judges. Of course Steven Tyler said she could go much further if she just let her hair down.
As a result of the performance, Amy Sciaretto of PopCrush called her a diva-in-training and said that she was a definite front-runner of this season’s competition.
At the Top 13 competition, Hollie Cavanagh was ready to take on the world. She performed “All the Man That I Need” by Whitney Houston and nailed it perfectly. Jennifer Lopez was even quoted as stating that she was glad that the Hollie she gave the golden ticket to was back. Jennifer also pointed out that this year’s competition may come down to a girl versus girl sing-off.
She went on to perform “The Power of Love” by Celine Dion and was praised for her abilities and vocal range. Her mentor was will.i.am and Jimmy Lovine, both of which were deeply impressed with Hollie and her amazing vocal skills. To top it all off, even Steven Tyler was quoted as stating that Hollie Cavanagh’s voice could only have come from the heavens above.
Tragedy struck Hollie when she performed “Honesty” by Billy Joel. The reactions from the judges’ panel were mixed and many were insisting that she was trying just too hard to get the song perfect. Before the show, it was also found that her biggest weakness was her lack of style. As a result, for the Billy Joel performance, Tommy Hilfiger gave her a big boost in style.
The following rounds would not be easy for Hollie. While she was safe at each step of the way, for the next few consecutive rounds she consistently finished in the bottom of the contestants and on a few occasions, was almost eliminated.
Hollie Cavanagh has worked hard to get where she is. Having at least made it to the top ten, means that Hollie will go on tour this summer with the other top contestants from Season 11 of American Idol. She has definitely made her mark on the history of the show and in the minds of the fans of the show all over the world.
Her range and vocal abilities make her a contender and no matter what happens, you can expect to see a whole lot more of Hollie over the next coming years. She is dedicated to continuing on her path to stardom with a vengeance and will do just about anything it takes to make her place in the chronicles of the music industry.
With so many great qualities, it is hard to say anything bad about Hollie. Sure she has some issues with her range, but with such a broad ability to sing, it is easy to fix or work around any issues that she may encounter.
From her childhood in the UK, and her love for football, to her infamous drive to the top spot in American Idol Season 11, Hollie Cavanagh definitely has what it takes to be the next big star and it’s hard to argue with that. Hollie is a star, no matter how you choose to look at it. The only real question anyone can ask is how long till we see her first song hit number one on the Billboard charts.
