Joshua grew up in Westlake and attended Westlake High School. As a regular deal, Joshua Ledet writes and composes songs for church, the House of Prayer Holiness Church. His greatest influences in the music industry are Fantasia Barrino, Whitney Houston, Luther Vandross, James Brown, Elton John and Stevie Wonder.

It is stated that he started his singing career when he was only 3 years old when he made his first appearance at his father’s church.

Originally, Ledet auditioned for Season 10 of American Idol but unfortunately did not make it through the auditioning process. However, for Season 11, he would travel all the way to Houston Texas to audition. He was dubbed at the audition, “Mantasia” in reference to Fanatasia, a former contestant of American Idol.

He received his golden ticket and moved on throughout the rounds of the contest. While not much was televised regarding the earlier rounds, it was apparent that Joshua was well on his way by the time of the semi-finals. It was during the semi-finals that Ledet would perform “You Pulled Me Through” by Jennifer Hudson and landed him one of the top five seats for the top 13 male contestants. By the top 8 round, Joshua Ledet would finally earn his first official American Idol standing ovation for his performance of “If You Don’t Know Me by Now” by Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes. He then went on to receive a second standing ovation when he performed a duet with Jessica Sanchez. Randy Jackson even referred to the pair as the greatest singers of the 11th Season of American Idol. Jackson went on to state that the Joshua Jessica duet was one of the greatest performances he has ever had the opportunity to see since he started working as an American Idol judge. Whatever the outcome of American Idol Season 11, Joshua Ledet has already made a name for himself and one can expect to see a whole lot more of his talented voice in coming years. While his first rounds in American Idol may not have been as televised, it was more than worth the wait to see just how this contestant would blossom throughout the course of the competition. His voice and timing are impeccable and if he continues to focus on his perfection of his art, there is no saying what Joshua Ledet could accomplish. Like so many before him, he has so much great potential. But all of that potential does not mean a thing if he does not continue to work and strive every single day, to reach perfection of his art.

Because Joshua has made it into the top 10, he is already guaranteed to travel this summer with the remainder of the Season 11 American Idol top contestants in their annual summer tour where you will be able to see Joshua and the other greats, live and in person. If he continues to improve and advance, then you might even be able to hear him in his own solo career as well. Joshua Ledet has the potential to not only perform chart topping songs, but he also has the skills to compose his own number one Billboard hits.

Joshua reminds me of Season 10 contestant Jacob Lusk, the token Gospel singer who made it to the top 4, I know that Joshua is viewed by the judges and Jimmy Iovine as a contender for the title but I’m still not sold on the idea that he might win.
